IPL 2019 will have the most celebrated batsmen and bowlers around the world, playing together and clashing against each other.
Like every year, few questions will arise from every corner before the commencement of the tournament itself.
One of that will be – “Who will win the Orange Cap in IPL 2019?”
And, I in CricIndeed comes up with 12 Orange Cap contenders predictions, basis on the current form of the batsmen and few other factors.

1. Rohit Sharma (MI)
Big News: Rohit Sharma will open for Mumbai Indians this year. He told this, himself in a recent press meet.
And we already know, how effective he will be when playing as an opener.
His stats from 2014, as an Indian batsman skyrocketed, drastically after Dhoni asked Rohit to open in the Limited Overs Cricket.

2. Shane Watson (CSK)
The Champion of last year’s final has all reasons to continue his form in this year IPL too.
He is among the very few players to have more than 3 Centuries in IPL.
Watson now has 3 IPL Centuries to his name, and I will not be surprised if he raises the count once again this year.

3. Kane Williamson (SRH)
The New Zealand management has already expressed that their players will be playing the entire IPL tournament this year.
Kane Williamson, the Sunrisers captain, was also the Orange Cap winner for the last year’s edition of IPL.
Also, with the form he is in the recent few months in all formats of Cricket, I don’t find any reason, he will not try to redo the super-show this year.

4. Quinton De Kock (MI)
The South African wicketkeeper smashed 353 Runs in 5 Innings at an average of around 70 in the recently concluded South Africa vs Sri Lanka ODI Series.
He might also open along Rohit Sharma in this IPL. If he does, nothing is stopping him from being the leading run scorer of this year’s IPL, with the form he is carrying.

5. Virat Kohli (RCB)
I am sure you don’t need any explanations for Virat Kohli to be on this list. His 973 in 2016 is the highest total runs scored in a single IPL edition.
All his 4 IPL Centuries came in 2016. Can he redo what he did in 2016 in 2019?
He can, is what I believe!
He is easily the best when it comes to this format of the game!

6. Shikhar Dhawan (DC)
Any batting stats list in the last five years will be incomplete without the name of Shikhar Dhawan.
He is one player who goes higher whenever he goes high.
Shikhar needs 32 more boundaries to overcome Gautam Gambhir’s record for the Most boundaries in IPL history!
He looked like he is back to form in the recent ODI series against Australia, I expect that to continue in this IPL too.
Also, his return back to his home team – Delhi, after a transfer form SRH to DC in the recent Trade Window, is only going to help him.

7. Suresh Raina (CSK)
The leading Run scorer of IPL – Suresh Raina now needs only 15 Runs to reach the 5k mark in IPL. He will also be the first player in the IPL history to do so unless Virat reaches it faster.
They meet in the IPL 2019 opener too, is what makes me crazier for the IPL to start.

8. AB de Villiers (RCB)
I am surprised ABD has never been an Orange Cap Winner so far in IPL.
His only threat must be the position at where he bats. He bats comparatively lower at No.4 in IPL and also, he has got to walk after Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli most of his career in IPL.
But now, he is looking fresh after coming him out of the International scenes, and that makes me add him as a possible contender for this year’s Orange Cap winner.

9. Rishabh Pant (DC)
The Indian youngster came second in the last year’s Most Run Scorers list, only after Kane Williamson. Since then, he is now one of the regular in the Indian national team and also gained a lot of experience against the World class bowlers.
Moreover, he will also be playing for a spot in the Indian world cup squad this time.
