The Start

Few people know exactly what they want to do when they are young. And Kohli was one of them who expressed an interest in cricket as early as the age of three. In 1998, Virat’s father, Prem Kohli, enrolled him in the West Delhi Cricket Academy when he was nine years old.

In 2002-2003, Rajkumar Sharma invited Ashish Nehra to a Polly Umrigar Trophy match, which piqued Kohli’s interest. Before becoming the greatest run-scorer, Virat Kohli played for the Delhi Under-15 squad.

When he was selected captain of India’s U-19 World Cup team, he experienced his first taste of true triumph. At the time, he led the Under-19 squad to victory and lifted the 2008 Under-19 World Cup. In his 15th year of international cricket, he is the second-highest century-maker in the game’s history.
